JAZZ IN JUNE…

Clonter could not have been more delighted with the turn out on Saturday night. Absolutely every seat was sold. James  Pearson, returning to Clonter for the second time this year – having been to help celebrate Clonter’s founder, Jeffery Lockett’s 80th Birthday in April, as part of the When Ravel Met Gershwin event – delighted his loyal audience, plus the new 20% new comers. This year Mr Pearson delivered a programme in large part celebrating the great George Shearing, acknowledging his visit to Clonter in 1979, stating how privileged he, MR Pearson, felt to be on the same stage as this historical giant of jazz. Mr Pearson was joined by his fellow house band members from Ronnie Scotts – Sam Burgess on Bass, and Chris Higginbottom on Drums, with the added bonus of Alex Garnett on Saxophone, but performing at Clonter for the first time was award winning jazz singer, Sara Dowling, who made her jazz debut at Matt and Phreds jazz club in Manchester.
