Last week we had a lovely couple of days holding our Afternoon Teas with Songs from the Shows, with a relaxed performance on Tuesday, for care homes and those being cared for at home. The singers, Daniella Sicari and local talent, Jordan Harding, delighted the respective audiences with an hour of songs such as Can’t help lovin dat man from Show Boat, Why Can’t the English (even including the accompanist, Robin Humphreys, in the dialogue) from My Fair Lady – which was also enjoyed at the Opera Gala in November by the same singer – nothing but the best for our afternoon tea audience – a very impassioned Show Me, also from My Fair Lady, Some Enchanted Evening from South Pacific, and many more, with a good old classic encore of Edelweiss, which the audience joined in with heartedly. The show was followed by the much loved traditional afternoon tea with some taking advantage of the availability of a glass of fizz to top it off!
We are very happy to report that our Afternoon Tea numbers are back to pre-covid levels, for both the Relaxed Tuesday Tea, as well as the Wednesday, which is definitely something to celebrate.
We would like to say a big thank you to both our trusty afternoon tea audience, as well as the new comers, of whom there were quite a few.
We would also like to thank our artists, Daniella and Jordan for their performances, and Robin Humphreys for his stellar accompaniment.
The audience made all the right noises when they were informed that Daniella and Jordan would both be returning respectively to Clonter later in the year. Daniella will be returning, by popular request (see quotes below) in the autumn – Saturday 7th October, along with the rest of The Easy Rollers to perform their show Drop Me Off in Harlem, a sonic tour of the Jazz age.
