Elias String Quartet & Robert Plane

Saturday saw a visit to Clonter of the Elias String Quartet and Robert Plane, treating both a Holmes Chapel Music Society audience and a number of Clonter supporters, to Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 4 in C Minor, but an unexpected treat of Brahms’ Clarinet Quintet in B Minor, via Sally Beamish’s String Quartet No. 3 Reed Stanzas, which included a hint of folk music from the highlands of Scotland.

The Holmes Chapel Music Society continues to introduce a new and rich diet of chamber music to Clonter’s usual programme of events.

Next up Young Musicians in Concert, supported by Sir John Deane’s College on Sat 5th March.

19th March welcomes Martin Roscoe – ‘unarguably one of the UK’s best loved pianists’ performing works by Beethoven, Schubert, Brahms, Liszt and Wagner, and on Sat 21st May Sir Mark Elder and the Hallé Principals will be coming to give an evening performance to celebrate the Holmes Chapel Music Society’s 50th Anniversary. The programme will consist of a gorgeous combination of Farvel, Fauré, Poulenc and Saint-Saens.
