INDIA ELECTRIC CO.
Friday 20 September 2019 - 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm
RAMSEY ROOM SESSION
“Two of the most extraordinary musicians, a phenomenal duo.”
BBC Radio 2
“Bursting with invention and full of surprises.”
**** The Telegraph
“Their reeling, spinning sound corroborates the content of their songs, which appear to be describing a life alive with motion. They are altogether a good thing, busy as rush hour but full of light.”
**** The Independent on Sunday
Clonter is delighted to welcome this duo to contribute to this year’s Ramsey Room Sessions calendar. These give an opportunity to get up-close and intimate with performers, with glass in hand, cabaret style, for those who like a more informal environment in which to enjoy their music. These evenings are accompanied by an optional pre-performance meal for those wanting to make it a complete night out.
Sometimes folk, sometimes not. India Electric Co. use traditional instruments in contemporary styles to explore diverse themes from Eastern Europe, Irish traditions and modern urban alienation to end up with something “quirky and glittery – a veritable musical magpie’s nest” (BBC Radio 3).
After releasing their debut debut album The Girl I Left Behind Me in 2015, they began extensively supporting and accompanying Midge Ure throughout Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Scandinavia.
With recent live sessions on BBC Radio 2 and 6 Music, performances at Glastonbury and Cambridge Folk Festival, the duo are embarking on their own unique headline tours in association with the award winning Churches Conservation Trust and EFDSS (English Folk Dance and Song Society). A full studio album will be released in Spring 2020 to follow on from their innovative trilogy of EPs — EC1M, Seven Sisters and Tablelands.
