The Betty Bannerman Award for French Song 2023
Clonter is delighted to announce that this year’s recipient of the Betty Bannerman Award for French Song is soprano Jessica Hopkins. A High Commendation goes to soprano Bonnie Callaghan.
This award was established by mezzo soprano Betty Bannerman, the instigator and tutor of the French Song Class at the Royal Northern College of Music, originally in her mentor’s name, Claire Croiza. After the death of Betty Bannerman the prize was renamed, and the size of the prize increased.
The winner of this prize will receive £1,000 + a professionally recorded recital in the Clonterbrook Music Room, worth a further £1,000.
